I decided to start a blog, yes, i am joining the crowd :) I got to the point where my status updates are just not enough to share my heart.
I really want to document the Journey that i am on, as i feel God is doing some amazing things in me.
Most of you know i have a great passion for the youth of this nation. To see them fall more deeply in love with the Creator of all, God. In falling more madly in love with Him, they can start to know that who they are is not what the world says they are. Their identity is found only in God. My heart was captured by youth quite a few years ago at Pine Ridge Bible Camp. There i fell in love with students and forming relationships and doing whatever i can to help them grow into Godly young men and women. So after a small detour i began my journey to becoming a youth pastor.
For so long that has been my single focus. That is a worthy calling, for which i am thankful for. I have to say though i feel as God is stretching me and making my heart bigger. Not sure if my words are clear, but i feel like God is shaping me into a new person. One whose heart breaks for widows, orphans, and the many hurting people of this world.
I can't explain how this journey started, other than to say it was God. About 3 months ago i was approached with an opportunity to go on a missions trip to Haiti. I was excited to go, but told this person i needed to pray about it, i wanted to make sure i was following God, and not my own desires.
After a few weeks in prayer i felt sure that God was indeed calling me to GO!!! I had no idea what i was in for, nor do i yet. All i know is that God is doing an AWESOME work in my heart.
I have decided that i am so tired of just talking about the injustice that goes on all around me. My heart is to make my life count. I want to be a person that because i lived, made this world a better place. I don't want it to be just words on facebook, or a blog, it is time for ACTION!!! I don't want to be a person that just goes to church, i want to be the church God calls us to be in Act 2.
So i GO!!! I start this journey, having no idea where it will take me. I do know God is my road map and strength. That is all i need :) I am excited about being God's hands and feet to the hurting nation of Haiti, and look forward to the ways i hope God will use me.
My favorite verse right now is Micah 6:8b, ...but to do justly and love mercy. May i be a person that loves justice, as God does. May i not just walk by the injustices of this world any longer. My i be sweetly broken...
Stay tuned...
